Tokenization can be applied to jewelry in several ways. One way is to tokenize individual pieces of jewelry and create digital tokens that represent ownership of the physical asset. This would allow the jewelry to be bought, sold, and traded on a blockchain-based platform. Tokenization of jewelry facilitates fractional ownership, meaning that multiple people can own a piece of jewelry together by buying tokens that represent a fraction of the total value of the piece. It can also make it easier to track the provenance of a piece of jewelry, from the mine where the raw materials were extracted to the final sale to a consumer. This increases transparency and reduces the risk of fraud in the jewelry market.
Our design and prototyping stage was captured to build around the client’s specific requirements while connecting it back to our platform. We built out a brand portal for víya that had all the functionalities that they were looking for.
Once a product is created brands can add in information such as the design process, history of the brand and more. They can also invite the consumer onto the platform at this point. Once a consumer gets an invitation, they can log into the portal, add their memories and customize their ring. While the product is being created and its information is being uploaded, the end user gets an email notification enabling them to log in and view every step of the process, allowing them to be part of the journey.
Now that the product is completed it's ready for both the user and brand to submit to the chain and we’re able to repackage this information and the data into a metadata structure. We take all the information, tokenize it, create a digital representation of the product and then automatically link the QR code back to its certificate authenticity.
We believe jewelry is special – it signifies good times, and memorializes great moments. It's more than the sum of its parts, which is what makes the experience priceless. The goal of our platform is to capture and enhance this meaningful journey for the end user.Firstly, a consumer is able to scan their ring with their phone using the QR code provided, linking them to its digital profile. You can see an overview of information such as the pictures, the specific description about the ring itself and all the information around the stones. This is pulled directly from the GIA reports.
From here, they can view the entire history of their ring from mine to manufacture and its design at every stage of the process - including sketches, CADs, castings, polishing and the inspiration behind its creation. They’re then able to personalize their ring by attaching special moments of a timeline and telling the story of their relationship – from the day they met their partner, to the day of the proposal, their wedding and more, which is also shareable on social media and other channels to show their friends and loved ones. It becomes a time capsule to be passed down for generations to come and to ensure your memories last a lifetime.
Consumers also have access to a private vault containing a repository of all of their documents, – including GIA reports, appraisal reports, insurance documents and more. We’re leveraging the blockchain to make this immutable and the goal for us was to create something that you can access from anywhere, at any time.
